creative people share their favorite life hacks with our SlotoCash Casino players

What are Some of the Most Useful Gaming Hacks?

A life hack is defined as “a technique or strategy adopted in order to manage one's daily activities and time in a more efficient way.” As gaming has become an increasingly important part of people’s leisure lives and even, for some, a part of their career life, SlotoCash casino lobby is reviewing some of the best life hacks for gamers.

Regardless of whether you’re playing for an hour or two a day as a recreation gamer or involved in the gaming world on a professional level, you should make sure that you’re as comfortable as possible. That means investing in a quality computer chair that supports your spinal column and cushions your backside.

There are numerous quality computer chairs on the market but some are more quality than others. You can ask your orthopedist for suggestions or simply do your own research before you make the purchase. You need a chair that features

  • Adjustable height – you need to have your feet flat on the floor. Your arms should be even with the height of the desk and your thighs should be horizontal.
  • Depth and width – as you play your back should be able to rest against the chair’s backrest. There should be approximately 2 to 4 inches between the seat of the chair and the back of your knees. You should be able to adjust the tilt of the seat.
  • Lumbar support for your back – there’s an inward curve to your lumbar spine which needs support. If you sit for too long without adequate support you may find yourself slouching which strains the structures in the lower spine. Lumbar adjustment (both depth and height) will alleviate such problems.
  • Armrests – most people don’t check the armrests before they buy a computer chair but they should. The armrests should be adequate to that our shoulders are relaxed and your arms rest comfortably while you’re gaming.
  • Material – the seat should be padded so that you have a comfortable place for your backside to rest during the gaming events. Cloth fabric is preferred because it breaths so your bar skin won’t stick to it.

Optimize your screen. Regardless of how big or fancy your screen is, you’ll enjoy a better gaming event if you optimize the screen for gaming. Go through your screen’s settings  to make sure that you aren’t playing a multi-player or tournament game with lag time and that you’re getting all the graphics that you need to enjoy a quality gaming session. Some of the things that you need to do include:

  • Enable your screen’s Game Mode setting to disable unnecessary processing and achieve a faster response time. If your screen has an Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) it does this automatically.
  • Make sure that you have HDMI cables to connect the audio and video sources. High-speed HDMI cables will enable you to pass a 4K video signal.
  • Connect your screen to WiFi or Ethernet to connect your network to the Internet.  This is particularly important if you plan to stream your games or view other gamers’ streams. You can achieve high-quality audio via a sound bar. Adjust your screen’s audio menu – the feature is usually found under “sound.”
  • Adjust picture settings.  These include settings for brightness, color, sharpness, contrast, etc. If you want a realistic picture, set the Movie/Cinema setting. For a bright, sharp image that increases contrast set the setting to Dynamic/Vivid. If you’re playing on a pro level, it’s important to reset the settings depending on the lighting in the room, the time of day, etc.
  • Don’t forget to place the screen at eye-level from your main viewing spot

If you’re playing PlayStation you can use the PSVita as a second controller. Enable “remote play” to activate this feature.

Classic Games

If you’re a fan of classic games, download an emulator that will process the games so that you can play them at your leisure. There are different types of emulators that support different consoles so it’s best to do your homework before you start to download anything.

Having a multi-use USB cable on hand is a handy tool for gamers. Investing in a USB is an inexpensive way to ensure that you can quickly charge up your cordless keyboards, controllers and mice. It’s not a bad idea to have an extra of each of these tech tools on hand so while you’re charging up one, the other is ready and raring to go.

Reset the Controller

If your controller freezes you can reset it by inserting a pin into the small hole located on the back of the controller device. Be sure that you turn off your console before you force the reset or else the reset will do it for you -- unsafely.

Toilet Paper Rolls

Storing your cables in toilet paper rolls is an old hack, as old as computer cables and cords themselves. But it’s an easy way to keep track of your extras. You can also quickly label the outside of each roll and keep them together in a shoe box or drawer so you’ll have quick access to the cord that you need whenever necessary.

Trade Games

You can open up an old controller and store a flash drive in it. In this way you can bring your games to a friend’s computer or insert it into a laptop and play on the go.

Garbage Bags

Garbage bags are probably the best way to protect electronic equipment from the elements. This hack is for people who do a lot of traveling with their hand-held gaming devices or gaming laptops.

Banana Holders

Banana holders are the perfect way to care for your headset. Headsets can be expensive, especially the newest VR and AR headsets. Instead of leaving the headset sitting out, use a banana holder as a stand where you can keep your headset safe and secure.
