Top movie sequels you don't want to miss

Many people, including many critics, roll their eyes when they hear about the release of a film sequel. The assumption is that creativity went out the door as the studio opted for a fairly sure bet on a moneymaker.

Sloto Cash casino suggests that you give sequels a fair chance. Many of the recent slot sequels were equal to or better than the originals, showcasing how movie sequels can be as good, if not better than the original.

There are a number of slot sequels that have proved to be more engaging and more popular than the originals. Bubble Bubble 2 out-performed Bubble Bubble and Gods of Wealthfollowed Gods of Nature to give players even more supernatural slots entertainment.

Who can forget Cash Bandits 2 which filled out the storyline of Cash Bandits and turned out to be so popular that Cash Bandits 3 quickly made its way to the slots lobby.

And lately, it seems that every Christmas season, a new Naughty or Nice slot is introduced, including the well-loved Naughty or Nice Spring Break and Naughty or Nice III.

Similarly, many film sequels are not initially taken seriously by movie aficionados and critics but with time, they come to be recognized as of a higher quality than the originals.

Some of those films include:

Bride of Frankenstein

Bride of Frankenstein, released in 1935, was probably one of the first – if not the first – movies to follow up on the plot of an earlier movie (Frankenstein). Bride of Frankenstein is just as campy as the original but has an added twist of bringing humanity to the story of a mild-mannered monster who needs a mate.

The film follows the fate of Dr. Frankenstein who falls under the control of Dr. Pretorius, his mentor from the original Frankenstein movie. Pretorius insists that the doctor resume his experiments. In the meantime, the first monster, a gentle soul whose intentions are good, must evade those who are trying to destroy him while trying to contend with his lack of social skills and his lack of social control.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Tom Cruise didn’t need the Mission: Impossible series to cement his career but it certainly hasn’t hurt.  The six-movie series (seventh is due out in 2022) includes the original Mission: Impossible which was released in 1996, Mission: Impossible II (2000), Mission: Impossible III (2006), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018).

Some Mission: Impossible fans think that the original film was the best but many critics are voting for the 2018 Fallout, if for no other reason than the stunts are incredible. The movie picks up two years after Ethan Hunt captured Solomon Lane. The remnants of the Syndicate have reformed and are now called the “Apostles.” They are led by a mysterious fundamentalist known as John Lark who has acquired three plutonium cores. Ethan is charged with finding Lark and the cores before it’s too late.

Mad Max: Fury Road

The 1979 Mad Max became something of a cult classic and Mad Max fans were more than satisfied with the 1981 Mad Max: Road Warrior. 35 years later the 2015 Mad Max Fury Road is the generally agreed-upon top of the line of this franchise. There’s a focus on feminist issues that gives the film some serious meaning while the thrilling action sequences keep the audience on its toes.

An apocalyptic story set in a stark desert landscape where everyone must fight for the necessities of life. The movie focuses on two rebels who might be able to restore order but they must run from the ruling powers. There's Max whose wife and child were killed by the chaos and Furiosa, a woman whose goal is to return to her childhood home. The two find that teaming up may allow them to survive.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

How to Train Your Dragon 2 was released in 2014, four years after the original, but this animated fantasy isn’t just for children. The graphics are just right and the emotional impact will make anyone of any age tear up. There’s romance, suspense, battles and meaningful quiet moments.

Five years ago, dragons Hiccup and Toothless united the Vikings and dragons on the island of Berk. In How to Train Your Dragon II the pair travel to unmapped territories and explore new worlds. One of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to the mysterious Dragon Rider and hundreds of new wild dragons. Now, Hiccup and Toothless find themselves battling to protect the peace. If they are successful they will be able to change the future of dragons and men.

The Dark Knight

Like Mission: Impossible, the Batman franchise never seems to run out of steam. Nor, as with other franchises, do the movies go down in quality. There was, of course, Batman: The Movie which was released in 1966 but the modern-day Batman franchise started in 1989 and went on to produce Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), Batman and Robin (1997), Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

All of the Batman movies received critical acclaim but The Dark Knight is generally accepted as the best of the bunch. Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker is unarguably one of the best portrayals of a villain ever seen on the silver screen.

In The Dark Knight Batman’s nemesis is The Joker who wreaks chaos on the people of Gotham City. Batman’s challenge is to meet The Joker on both physical and psychological grounds of assault.
